Tomaseen Foley was born in the remote parish of Teampall an Ghleanntáin in the West of Ireland - - into the warm lap of the last generation of Irish people for whom storytelling was as natural as breathing, and at a time when the family was the center of the community and the community was the center of life itself.
Set at Christmas in the 1950s, Parcel from America is a story from that old communal way of life, when, it was said, that people could live only in the shelter of their neighbor.
"This is an utterly charming,
heartwarming folk tale."
